Day one: get to know the city centre

Start around the Kraton and Taman Sari in the morning, then move towards Malioboro later in the day. Keeping nearby sights together makes the day feel more relaxed.

Leave time to walk and try local food. An overly tight itinerary removes the freedom to discover interesting places along the way.

02

Day two: focus on one temple area

Set aside a day for Prambanan and other places east of the city. Check current opening hours and ticket conditions before leaving.

If you plan around sunrise or sunset, allow for journey times and weather, and prepare an alternative plan.

What to check
  • Leave earlier on weekends.
  • Carry drinking water and sun protection.
  • Keep any extra stops along the same route.
03

Day three: slow down

Use the final day for museums, craft centres, or a food tour that matches your interests. If you leave that day, choose activities near your station or airport route.

Treat this itinerary as a flexible framework. Opening hours, tickets, and travel conditions can change, so check again before setting out.
